ATHARVA VEDIC ASTROLOGY

Vedic Astrology. .I thank all the readers for extending their support to the wonderful magazine “ Karma’. Due to the over whelming support the magazine has come as the first of its kind throughout the country. During the past issues we discussed a lot about Vedic Astrology. In this issue I wish to discuss about how Vedic Astrology controls the health. Not many people realize that our health can be tracked in the stars! Each of the planets and the signs has particular areas of the body that they influence through their ruler ship. Aries Rules the Head, Taurus Rules the Throat, Gemini Rules the Breath, Cancer Rules the Breasts, Leo Rules the Heart, Virgo Rules the Abdomen, Libra Rules the Kidneys, Scorpio Rules the Secret Parts, Sagittarius Rules the Hips, Capricorn Rules the Knees, Aquarius Rules the Ankles and Pisces Rules the Feet. Let me briefly explain the notes of Atharva Veda on this subject.

 Aries Rules the Head. The head, taken as a whole, is ruled by Aries. The signs have an internal, external and structural relationship. Internally, Aries rules the brain and nerve centers, carotid arteries; externally the cranium, jaw and facial bones. Externally, the ruler ships are more complicated and other parts of the head and face are ruled by Taurus and Scorpio and all of the planets rule various other parts. For example, the Sun rules the right eye in the male, the left eye in the female, while the Moon rules the left eye in the male and right eye in the female. Aries is subject to all kinds of head complaints such as sinusitis, headaches, tooth and gum afflictions, baldness and are prone to accident or injuries to the head and face. As a sign of this celestial association, many Aries individuals are born with a birth mark on their head or face.

 

Taurus Rules the Throat Each sign has external, internal and structural relationships. Externally, Taurus rules the throat, neck, ears and lower jaw. Internally, it rules the thyroid gland, pharynx, larynx, jugular vein, tonsils, Eustachian tubes, cervical ganglia and carotid arteries. Structurally, it rules the occipital, cervical vertebrae, lower jaw and teeth, chin and palate. The pathological tendencies of this sign are stroke, croup, tonsillitis, lymphatic stasis of the neck and head and laryngitis. Vulnerable parts of the body are the neck, throat, shoulders and upper torso. Stiff necks, sore throats and earaches are common Taurean complaints. Taurus rules the throat, giving a powerful, often beautiful voice. The influence of Venus opens up a world of musical talent and appreciation, so Taureans are good singers and musicians, or at least, love music and can be a force on the business side of music.

Gemini Rules the Breath Each sign of the zodiac has external, internal and structural ruler ship. Externally, Gemini rules the shoulders and upper arms. Internally, Gemini rules the breath, nerve fibers, thymus gland, lungs, trachea and bronchi. Structurally, Gemini rules the clavicle, scapula and humerus. This double sign portends the native suffering from two diseases at the same time. The pathological action of this sign is nervousness, negativity, passivity, or even restlessness. Tuberculosis, asthma and anemia are common to the nativity. Vulnerable parts of the body are the arms, hands, fingers, lungs and nervous system, especially the sense of hearing. Respiratory problems and various nervous conditions are common to the people of Gemini. Gemini's complaints are benefited with the orange rays. Gemini is traditionally considered a barren sign.

Cancer Rules the Breasts The crab is Cancer's astrological symbol, so, when threatened, people with Cancer prominent in their chart tend to armor themselves by withdrawing into solitude. When upset, they use food as consolation, which in turn, results in obesity and food allergies. The Sun in Cancer reflects a weakened physical constitution. Externally, it rules the breasts, epigastria region and the elbows. Internally, it rules the stomach, digestive organs, upper lobe of the liver, thoracic duct, pancreas, blood serum and womb. The entire act of digestion with peristalsis is ruled by Cancer. Indigestion, stomach ulcer, flatulence, jaundice, liver torpidity and mammary affections are common. Be on guard against lymphatic stasis. Structurally, Cancer rules the maxillae, bladder, blood serum and albumen. People with Cancer active in their charts are subject to coughs, indigestion, gas, gallstones, general problems with stomach, liver and intestines, plus emotional disorders such as depression, hypochondria and hysteria.

Leo Rules the Heart Leo represents the heart of the physical system, a fire sign that heats the body and can lead to a loss of equilibrium between body and mind. Internally, Leo rules the heart, spinal cord, liver metabolism, spleen, pulmonary arteries and aorta, superior and inferior vena cava. Externally, the Lion governs the back and forearm, while structurally, the twelve dorsal vertebrae. The diseases of Leo predominately involve the heart, most seriously occlusion of cardiac arteries by blood clot or occlusion bringing on a heart attack. Nervous tension can affect the heart with palpitations and the like. The fire of Leo tends to fevers, especially heart-related issues such as peri carditis and rheumatic heart disease and is linked to jaundice and eye problems. Leo, though fond of children, is traditionally a barren sign.

Virgo Rules the Abdomen Internally, Virgo rules the abdominal region, large and small intestines, spleen, solar plexus, lower lobes of the liver, pancreas, portal veins and has some influence on the generative organs. Externally, it rules the umbilicus, hands and nails. Structurally, it rules the carpal bones. Health conscious Virgo makes an effort to stay physically fit and Virgo people don't mind repetitive exercise routines, if they can see achievable outcomes. They enjoy tennis, racquetball, swimming, sailing, fishing, and biking, even though athletically they are not overly competitive. It's just that they always seek to perfect whatever skills they may have, primarily for the sake of doing a thing well. Talented in various crafts, dressmaking and designing, Virgo may also take a particular interest in such things as cartography, travel, and philately. Virgo rules the sinuses, respiratory system and bowels. Colds, flu, allergies, problems with intestines and constipation are common Virgoan complaints. Black moods and despondency from time to time can adversely affect others in the vicinity. Traditionally, Virgo is a barren sign.

 

Libra Rules the Kidneys As each sign rules structural, external and internal relationships, Libra rules the excretory functions through the kidneys and skin. Externally it rules the lumbar region, buttocks, adrenals and vasomotor system. Structurally, the sign rules the lumbar vertebrae. The pathological tendencies of this sign are lumbago, kidney disease, uraemia, polyuria, renal calculi and oedema. Libra rules the kidneys, lower back and ovaries. Lower back pain, and problems caused by too much sugar or rich food are common complaints. Librans are also subject to interminable hovering between alternatives, or inability to make firm decisions, especially under pressure, when they can be pushed by others into taking steps they may later regret.

Scorpio Rules the Secret Parts Each sign has an external, internal and structural ruler ship. Externally, Scorpio rules the nose and nasal bones, the pubic area and genital organs. Internally, it rules the gonads, hemoglobin, bladder, prostate, descending colon, sigmoid flexure and rectum. It has nfluence over the vocal cords and larynx. Structurally it rules the pubic bones, coccyx and nasal bones. This sign also influences the thymus and thyroid glands, liver, uterus, menstruation, sweat glands and the endocrine glands in general. Scorpio rules the reproductive organs and excretory system, so those with Scorpio active in their charts suffer headaches, infections and fevers, along with various illnesses to do with what used to be called the secret parts. Scorpio people however have a strong constitution and can usually overcome their problems, many of which are of their own making, due to their clandestine activities.

 

Sagittarius Rules the Hips Externally, Sagittarius rules the region around the hips, gluteal muscles, thighs and has considerable influence over the muscles in general. Internally, it has ruler ship of the sciatic nerve, iliac arteries and veins and considerable influence on the liver, lungs and motor nerves. Structurally, it rules the four coccygeal vertebrae, sacral bones and femur. The diseases of Sagittarius particularly involve the hips and thighs. Injury to these areas is common, especially if horse-riding is involved. The pain of sciatica has long been associated with this sign. The expansive, pleasure loving influence of Jupiter inclines to the excessive consumption of rich food and drink, sometimes leading to arthritic pains in the hips. Since Sagittarius is a fire sign, the tendency to feverish complaints is also marked.

Capricorn Rules the Knees Externally, Capricorn rules the joints (especially the knees), hair, teeth and skin; internally, the mucous membranes, the peripheral nerves and portions of the stomach. Structurally, it rules the skeleton, bones and patella. The planet Lord Sun is weak in this sign, but Capricorn does tend towards longevity unless afflicted by the planets Moon or Saturn. Many diseases result from business anxieties. The accidents from this sign are broken bones, sprains, dislocations and hurts from the knees and below. Sensitive skin, allergies, and broken bones are problems, while worrying too much can also result in physical disorders. Capricorn suffers from insecurity and anxiety in youth, but blossoms under Saturn in the later years. Capricorn people do not readily yield to disease, but once sick they hold onto the symptoms and can become hypochondriacs. Worry and anguish can also result in health problems like heart attacks if they are not careful to relieve their stress with proper exercise. The pathological tendencies are crystallization, dryness and constriction. Routine massage and foot reflexology can be of considerable benefit.

Aquarius Rules the Ankles Externally this sign rules the calves, tibia and ankles. Internally, Sun in Aquarius rules the circulation, breath and eyesight; structurally, the bones of the lower limbs. It is closely associated with the blood and circulation, with a tendency toward impure blood. The pathological action of Aquarius is towards nervousness, gloom and sensitivity leading to habits and fixed ideas that make disease persist and linger. Aquarians are prone to varicose veins, hypertension and heart problems. Aquarius rules shins, ankles, and the circulatory system, while cramps, allergies, sudden illness and freak accidents are common for those with Aquarius active in their charts. They may also suffer from various nervous disorders.

 

Pisces Rules the Feet Internally, Pisces rules the lymphatic system, sensorial fluids and functions of the glands in general. Externally, it rules the feet and toes and structurally the bones of the feet. Swelling, allergic reaction to drugs, injuries to the feet and related problems are common complaints, but the Piscean emotional nature can also make them vulnerable to sychosomatic illness. The susceptibility of the Piscean nature to drugs and alcohol as a way of dealing with the pressures of the world needs to be addressed in a sensitive and realistic way. Today's medical world has become vast. The utilities and laboratory facilities have grown to a tremendous height. Without having anything or any facility like today, our ancestors have invented all these factors thousands of years back itself. All these are explained in Atharva Veda. REMEDIES TO CURE MALEFIC EFFECTS OF SUN /SURYA



Malefic Sun – Reason & Prevention

In Vedic Astrology, Sun has great significance and occupies the central place amongst the Navagrahas. If sun is malefic in the kundali and one is badly affected by the karkatawas of Sun like-heart problems, eye diseases, stomach diseases, Bones diseases, loss of position etc, then one must donate Jaggery, Wheat, Red colored Copper and perform Yagya Homas which are considered auspicious. Sun is incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Sacred Harivansh Purana describes that by reading Harivansh Purana, the malefic effect of sun are removed.

According to Lal Kitab

One, who has strong Sun in Kundali, eats less salt. In other words – a person takes more salt in food whose Sun is weak in birth chart.

Generally, Sun is regarded inauspicious in seventh house. The reason behind this theory is that, in kalpurush kundali Libra Rashi falls in seventh house. Libra is the sign where Sun gets debilitated. If one suffers due to Sun’s position in Seventh house some remedies should be performed to cast off the malefic effects caused by it. One should sprinkle milk over the fire on which the meal for the night is cooked to make the fire lit off. The main idea behind this remedy suggests that Sun has fire which could be calm down by the help of its friend Moon in form of sprinkling milk. The other remedy is which is suggested by Lal Kitab that one must consume sweets first, and then drink water. As according to it Mars is associated with sweet honey.

The use of water and sweet, which is mentioned above signifies that one may take help of Moon and Mars who are Sun’s friends as remedial measures to cast away the negative influences caused by malefic Sun placed in seventh house. 

If malefic Sun is placed in tenth house (profession house), One’s career and profession gets affected. In that case – cast a copper coin in flowing water as it removes doshas of malefic Sun. This remedy again emphasizes the principle to donate metal which is associated with the inauspicious planet. Copper and gold metals associate with Sun. Immersing a thing into the flowing water signifies immersing our sorrows & miseries in the water and flow them away.

If Sun and Saturn join together in the seventh house of kundali , spouse health gets affected , in that case donation of Jawar equal to weight of the native shall be beneficial.

In other situation, if Sun & Saturn are placed together in a sign and strong Sun combusts Saturn and its karkatwas – like house, business etcin that case donation of the articles of Sun like – wheat, gold, copper, jaggery (Gud) shall give relief. But in contrast to this, if Sun becomes weak due its association with Saturn and Sun’s Karakatwas like promotion, health, position, prestige, gold are affected, in that case donation of Saturn articles like – Iron, Oil, almonds is auspicious.

Association of Sun & Rahu in the Kundali, eclipses the Sun and destroys karkatawas of Sun. In that case, inauspicious can be removed by immersing Rahu’s articles like coal, mustard in the flowing water.

Numerology and Planets- Their Influence on Humans for Failure or Success



Webster's dictionary defines vibration as the to and fro motion of an object when displaced from the resting position, as in transmitting sound, as well as the emotional qualities or supernatural emanations that are felt by another. That same source defines Numerology as the study of the occult (hidden) significance of numbers and alphabetic letters. In analyzing one's name and date of birth, numerology is a tool to help us understand the Eternal OM, the first Word or Sound vibration in the Space or Ether before the evolution of man and the place of life in it.

Numerology or Astrology has been attacked by ignorant for going against the laws and teachings of God. In fact, just the reverse is true. The Bible, the Talmud, the Koran, even the Egyptian Book of the Dead, and the Indian Vedas the very originators of these sciences, all have alluded to numbers in ways that require interpretation by people of wisdom.

As related to individuals, each of these vibrates to certain numbers according to their name, their birth date, year and month.   As they appear, they become either as strengths or as losses or as helps or as change, or as the signs, or the omens; and may also be given as warnings too or in any manner that they may be constructive in the experience of the individual.

Planets Ruling the numbers:

Each number from 0 to 9 is ruled by a specific Planet in our solar system. In Numerology and Astrology the same is followed for the interpretation of the fate, problems and solutions of any individual.   They are as follows:

1.  Zero is ruled by the planet Pluto, which gives it many transforming and regenerating qualities. It has a lot of depth and intensity, which makes it an abstruse number indeed.

2. One is rule by the Sun and the astrological aspect of the conjunction, so this number is very egocentric, quite often being somewhat of a loner.

3.  Two is ruled by the Moon and the astrological aspect of the opposition, which means this number is very co-operative, emotive, and has a great deal of feeling. This number is associated with relationships in general.

4.  Three is ruled by Jupiter and the astrological aspect of the trine, and is educated, wise, and happy. The acquisition or expenditure of money often features prominently in the number. There is usually a free flow of energy associated with this number, which indicates that both good and bad come easily to this number. This number is the major benefic, so is considered lucky to many. Money will come and go easily when three is significant.

5.  Four is ruled by Mars (although in many systems 4 represents URANUS) and the astrological aspect of the square. It is forceful and dominating in an attempt to control the tension that is inherent in this number. It also has a great deal of stability and is therefore a good number when attempting to build foundations. When four is prominent, quite often people will need to overcome obstacles before they will be able to reach their highest potential.

6.  Five is ruled by the planet Mercury and the astrological aspect of the quincunx. It is very communicative and witty on a light level. Because this number deals with the concept of communication, on a negative level deception can also be involved, so it is always best to double check for the facts. Sometimes an individual must make adjustments in order to fit in when this number is significant.

7.  Six is ruled by the planet Venus and the astrological aspect of the sextile. It is a pleasant, harmonious number that governs the arts and music. Tact and diplomacy figure prominently with this number, so relationships will be of paramount importance. Six is a minor benefic, so money will play an important role when this number is significant. There will be a free flow of energy, which will enable many opportunities for success to come to the individuals who this number has touched.

8.  Seven is ruled by the planet Neptune. It is a very spiritual number that is not limited by the constraints of the physical world. This is the number of mystics, visionaries, and seers. Because this number is associated with idealism, depression can easily manifest itself when our expectations of others and our goals are not met. This number has many surreal, or unreal, qualities to it.

9.  Eight is ruled by the planet Saturn. It is a solid and very stable number that has many limitations that must be transcended. Those individuals who have this number prominent in their life usually must learn by experience. They quite often have many harsh lessons to learn, which are quite often the result of a karmic debt they must repay before they can progress unto their next level of spiritual evolution. 

10.  Nine is ruled by the planet Uranus (although in many systems 9 represents MARS). It is very eccentric and unusual in nature. Where this number is prominent invention and ingenuity are very important elements to any given situation.

ATHARVA VEDIC ASTROLOGY–SOME ISLAMIC VIEWS

Astrology is the study of influence of movements of stars, etc. on human affairs, whereas Astronomy is a science of heavenly bodies.It is needless to mention that one need not to dilate into the science of the heavenly bodies, as it is very crystal clear and as sure as the Sun rises in the east at a paritcular time and sets in the west at a particular time. So in the case of another heavenly body-Moon, which also has its fixed rotation. This is evident in the Holy Quran.

"And the Sun runneth on unto a resting place for him .That is the measuring of the mighty, the wise. And for the Moon, we have appointed mensions till she returns like and old shrivelled palm leaf. It is not for the sun to overtake the Moon, nor doth the nights outstrips the day. They float each in an orbit." (Surah X XX VI. verse 38,39,and 40). These verse prove the well ordained for well-knit mechanism of Allah's creation. At another place He says, "He is who appointed the Sun a splendour and the Moon a light and measured for her stages that he might know the number of the years, and the reckoning. Allah has created not (all) that save in truth. He detaileth the revelations for people who have knowledge (Surah X verse 5)." He further commands, "He is the cleaver of the day break, and he hath appointed the night for stillness, and the Sun and the Moon for reckoning. That is the measuring of the mighty, the wise "(Surah VI verse 96).

We find that in the Holy Quran, in several verses, Almighty has asked and encouraged mankind to look into and ponder over the objects of his creation, including the heaven, the stars and the Moon, in orders the understand his signs and thereby his supreme might, glory and greatness.

"Say (O Muhammad) : Behold what is in the heaven and the earth! But revelations and warnings avail not folk who will not perceive." (Surah Yunus : verse 101)."Say (O Muhammad) : Travel in the land and see how he originated creation, so will Allah produce a later creation, for Allah has power over all things." (Surah Al-Ankabut : verse 20)."Do they not reflect in their own minds? Allah created not the heaven and the earth, and that is between them, save with truth and for a destined end; you are there truly many among men who deny the meeting with their Lord (At the Resurrection)! (Surah Al-Rum : verse 8).

"And verily in the heaven we have set mansions of the stars and we have beautified it for beholders."

(Surah Al-Hijri; verse 16)."And he hath constrained the night and the day and the sun and Moon to be services unto you, and the stars are made subservient by His command. Lo! herein indeed are portents for people who sense." (Surah Al-Nahi : verse 12).It is further observed that the Quaranic narration into practice is observed in the Sun and the Moon eclipse at appropriate time and the day, as also occurrence of the seasons.It is therefore, irrational to call Astronomy a science and Astrology hocus pocus.Mention in regard to Astrology or the influence of plants and stars is found in the Holy Quran in connection with Pharaoh, who was warned of the birth of Prophet Moses (A. S.) which took place.

As a consequence of the prediction by the court astrologers of King Namrood who predicted birth of Prophet Ibrahim (A. S.) so much so that they predicted accurately the conception of Prophet Ibrahim (A. S.) in spite of the best efforts of the King Namrood to prevent it.Can there be doubt to regard Astrology as a science which is just application of Astronomy ?Astrology is more than 6000 years old and the movement of the plants and stars are very accurately measured; there cycles are fixed by the ancient seers. Hence, the commentaries prove it's prior existence.There have been many occasions in the past 2,000 years when astrological predictions have come true. Hippocrates predicted a plague swept the city, Alexander the Great was warned by the astrologers to flee from the walls of Babylon where his evil stars prevailed, but like Hitler he took their advice only when it suited him, entered the city, and met his end.

Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, opined "A physician who was ignorant of Astrology was not worthy to be called a physician. He had no right to heal anyone."

One of the jurists of repute, Imam Shafee (R. A.) actually learnt this science at the hands of experts. He had once upon a time predicted birth of child to a person after seeing his chart with a mole in his left thigh, within twenty - seven days and shall remain alive for 24 days and shall expire.

This was related by HajrAllamaIbnAsqalani (R. A.) Imam Shafayee who was also expert in the science of Physiognomy, as he could read Imam Bukhari, when asked by his teacher, Imam Hameedee.(Naq - she - Kokan, Mumbai, December, 1987 issue, Page 6).

Another Muslim scholar AllamaMaudoodi, Justifies Palmistry as one of the branches of Astrology, for channellising human resources, while replying to various enthusiasts reproduced in the magazine Tajalli published from Deoband, in the issue of October and November, 1972 on page 72 of this issue.

Some of our learned theologians equate Astrology with the knowledge of the unseen (IIme-Gaib). IIme-Gaib is revelation which is corroborated by another verse "this is of the tidings of things hidden." (Surah III, verse 44). Yet another scholar MaulaviShabbir Ahmed Usmani, writes in his commentary on verse no. 59 Surah, VI that the key of unseen and treasures are only with Allah, and only Allah endows endows out of it whom he so wishes and hence, it cannot take the peace of Astrology which is based on calculations of the planets and stars. As such, it cannot be equated with the knowledge of the unseen (IIme-Gaib).

It is a matter of much regret that in this age of amazing scientific advancement, the Muslims are lagging behind and have left it to others to make scientific investigations in the field of Astronomy, space and other related sciences. Pursuit of such knowledge, it would be seen from the verses quoted in this article is in keeping with the teachings of the Holy Quran and uphold the truth of the revelations made therein.

Indeed, Muslims scholars and scientists have made significant contributions in the field of astrology in the past. But the present offers a greater challenge and opportunity.

Achievement of such knowledge not only gives greater insight into the objects of Allah's creation, Which he terms as his signs, but also helps to develop greater conviction and faith in the supreme glory and greatness of Almighty Allah, the Creator.

If Muslims really paid heed to the Quranic teachings and acted upon them, they could no doubt become accomplished and distinguished people in all respects as individual and as a nation.

Sri AtharvaSoolini Durga at Hindu Temple of Georgia

Sri Soolini Durga is the wife of Sri.Sarabeswara. She is another form of Goddess Parasakthi. There are three shapes for each and every deity. They are Santham, Ugram and Maha ugram. It means calm, fearsome and the most fearsome. SriMeenakshi, Sri Kamakshi are the examples for calm poses of Goddess Parasakthi. Sri.Durga is the example for Ugram and Sri Soolini Durga and Prathyangira Devi are the examples for the most fearsome poses. When we need the motherly affection we have to pray the Santha shapes. To get rid of moderate troubles we have to pray ugra shapes as Sri.Durga. To solve the sever problems we face in our day to day life we have to pray the Maha ugram poses. Atharva Veda is the only Veda, which deals with the healing part. It explains in detail about the different methods of prayers and rituals to get rid of our problems. Sri.Soolini Durga plays a vital role in solving the problems faced by each and every body. Sri.Soolini Durga Hrudayam, a part of Atharva Veda and an old palm script compiled by a great monk, “Prapancha sara sara Sangraham” tells in detail about Sri.Soolini Durga. According to those wonderful writings, we will see about Sri.Soolini Durga.

 Lord Mahavishnu took the most fearsome pose Narasimha and came out of the pillar, caught the demon took him to the entrance and killed him. Narasimma’s anger was very severe. Nobody could control his anger. So. All prayed Lord Shiva to control the anger of Narasimma. Lord Shiva also took a fearsome pose called Sarabeswara. He had two feathers. He controlled the anger of Narasimma and made him cool. Lord Sarabeswara had two wings. One wing is Sri PrathyangiraDevi and another wing is Sri.Soolini Durga. Prathyangira Devi and Soolini Durga are the most fearsome poses of Goddess Parasakthi.Prathyangira Devi is called as Atharvana Badrakali and Sri.Soolini Durga is called as Atharvan Rudrakali.She is the mother of all.

What do we get from Sri.Soolini Durga? She is the rescuer from enemies. She secures all the wealth and assets. She helps us to come across all enemies. She cures the mind and physic. She blesses us with good children. She gives a lot of knowledge and wisdom. Whenever we call her she comes instantly to support us. It is very hard to go near her. If we go near her it is sure that we will come out of all our troubles. The ways and methods of rituals to get rid of various problems. To have good kids, those who need the kids should eat the rice offered to her everyday for a period of at least 48 days. It is very sure that they will get good kids. To get rid of the mind related troubles “Panakam” (sweet water prepared with sugar candy and dried ginger) is to be offered to her and the offered sweet water is to be drunk by the person having mental troubles. To get rid of the enemies we have to light the lamp with mustard oil. To get rid of the evil spirits we have to offer her butter. She likes the offerings much and blesses her devotees with their ambitions fulfilled.

The method of Prayers.  

Daily the minimum Abishegam(holy bathe) to be performed with water and milk. By having this holy bath she becomes cool and blesses the devotees with cool walk of life. When one is affected by fearsome diseases like small pox and chicken pox we have to bathe the deity with water and tender coconut water. The patient should intake a small quantity of water and tender coconut water poured on the image. Within a span of twelve days the patient will be cured.. She cures the different kinds of fever. Fever means not only the hike of temperature in the physical body. It refers to the heat in the mind and poverty. She easily removes these kinds of things. We have another trouble. It is called a Dhrushti or bad eyes or najar. This is the worst one. By praying Sri.Soolini Durga on Tuesdays and Fridays with the offering of lemon, we can easily come across the thing. We face a lot of problems caused by the nine planets. The invisible planets crate a lot of things in this visible world. She cures the ailments caused by the nine planets. She is called as “Aavesa Graha samharyai Namaha”.She cures all kind of physical and mind related problems. She is called as “Vyaadhi Naasini”. The word “Vyadhi” means problems caused by the unseen forces. By praying her she removes all kinds of problems. She is called as the best blessing deity.

The Most Important and Easiest way to get the blessings of Sri.Soolini Durga.

Tuesday, Friday and Sunday are the important days to pray Sri.Soolini Durga. All can come to the Temple and light lamps with wick and mustard oil, which is the best minimum prayer for Sri.Soolini Durga. That too particularly Raaghu kalam on these three days approximately 3.00pm to 4.30 pm, 10.30am to 12.00noon and 04.30 to 06.00pm are the best timings to light the lamp with mustard oil lamp. The Hindu Temple of Georgia is the only Hindu Temple in the entire USA to have Sri.Soolini Durga as one of the presiding deities.

I wish to discuss Lord Krishna’s ideas on “how to get the best wisdom or knowledge”. According to the thoughts of great saints like Sri.Sankaracharya, Sri.Ramanuja and Sri Madhwacharya Lord Krishna is not only the reincarnation of Lord Mahavishnu. But he is considered as the wisest. Great scholars like Sri.Rajaji and Dr.S.Radhakrishnan considered Lord Krishna as the best statesman. I am not a scholar like them. But with the blessings of Almighty I wish to discuss a little bit about the ”Gnana Yoga”, the fourth chapter of Bhagavat Geetha. Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna, how to get great knowledge, wisdom and mental courage to face the situations. Arjuna was facing the worst situation of facing his cousin brothers, teachers and other close relatives in the battle field. Lord Krishna sat as the driver of Arjuna’s chariot and explained him to face the situations.Instaed of writing as an essay I give this in the form of questions and answers.

The Blessed Lord said: I instructed this imperishable science of yoga to the sun god, Vivasvan, and Vivasvan instructed it to Manu, the father of humankind, and Manu in turn instructed it to Iksvaku. This supreme science was thus received through the chain of disciple succession, and the saintly kings understood it in that way. However, in course of time, the succession was broken, and therefore the science as it is appears to be lost. That very ancient science of the relationship with the Supreme is today told by me to you because you are my devotee as well as my friend; therefore you can understand the transcendental mystery of this science.

Arjuna said: The sun-god Vivasvan is senior by birth to you. How am I to understand that in the beginning you instructed this science to him?

The Blessed Lord said: Many, many births both you and I have passed. I can remember all of them, but you cannot, because you are mortal and I am immortal. Although I am unborn and my transcendental body never deteriorates, and although I am the Lord of all sentient beings, I still appear in every millennium in my original transcendental form. Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice and a predominant rise of irreligion--at that time I descend myself. In order to deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I advent myself millennium after millennium.

One who knows the transcendental nature of my appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains my eternal abode. Being freed from attachment, fear and anger, being fully absorbed in Me and taking refuge in Me, many, many persons in the past became purified by knowledge of Me and thus they all attained transcendental love for Me. All of them as they surrender unto me I reward accordingly. Everyone follows my path in all respects. Men in this world desire success in furtive activities, and therefore they worship the demigods. Quickly, of course, men get results from furtive work in this world.

According to the three modes of material nature and the work ascribed to them, the four divisions of human society were created by me. And, although I am the creator of this system, you should know that I am yet the non-doer, being unchangeable. There is no work that affects Me; nor do I aspire for the fruits of action. One who understands this truth about me also does not become entangled in the furtive reactions of work.

All the liberated souls in ancient times acted with this understanding and so attained liberation. Therefore, as the ancients, you should perform your duty in this divine consciousness. Even the intelligent are bewildered in determining what is action and what is inaction. Now I shall explain to you what action is, knowing which you shall be liberated from all sins. The intricacies of action are very hard to understand. Therefore one should know properly what action is, what forbidden action is, and what inaction is.

One, who sees inaction in action, and action in inaction, is intelligent among men, and he is in the transcendental position, although engaged in all sorts of activities. One is understood to be in full knowledge whose every act is devoid of desire for sense gratification. He is said by sages to be a worker whose furtive action is burnt up by the fire of perfect knowledge. Abandoning all attachment to the results of his activities, ever satisfied and independent, he performs no furtive action, although engaged in all kinds of undertakings.

Such a man of understanding acts with mind and intelligence perfectly controlled, gives up all sense of proprietorship over his possessions and acts only for the bare necessities of life. Thus working, he is not affected by sinful reactions. He who is satisfied with gain which comes of its own accord, who is free from duality and does not envy, who is steady both in success and failure, is never entangled, although performing actions.

The work of a man who is unattached to the modes of material nature and who is fully situated in transcendental knowledge merges entirely into transcendence.

A person who is fully absorbed in Lord Krishna’s teachings and follows it is sure to attain the spiritual kingdom because of his full contribution to spiritual activities, in which the consummation is absolute and that which is offered is of the same spiritual nature. Some yogis perfectly worship the demigods by offering different sacrifices to them, and some of them offer sacrifices in the fire of the Supreme Brahman. Some of them sacrifice the hearing process and the senses in the fire of the controlled mind, and others sacrifice the objects of the senses, such as sound, in the fire of sacrifice.

Those who are interested in self-realization, in terms of mind and sense control, offer the functions of all the senses, as well as the vital force [breath], as oblations into the fire of the controlled mind.

There are others who, enlightened by sacrificing their material possessions in severe austerities, take strict vows and practice the yoga of eightfold mysticism, and others study the Vedas for the advancement of transcendental knowledge. And there are even others who are inclined to the process of breath restraint to remain in trance, and they practice stopping the movement of the outgoing breath into the incoming, and incoming breath into the outgoing, and thus at last remain in trance, stopping all breathing. Some of them, curtailing the eating process, offer the outgoing breath into itself, as a sacrifice.

All these performers who know the meaning of sacrifice become cleansed of sinful reaction, and, having tasted the nectar of the remnants of such sacrifice, they go to the supreme eternal atmosphere. Dear Arjuna, without sacrifice one can never live happily on this planet or in this life: what then of the next? All these different types of sacrifice are approved by the Vedas, and all of them are born of different types of work. Knowing them as such, you will become liberated.

Dear Arjuna, you are very wonderful and brave person. Do not fear on the situations. Their karma is like that. You are used only as a weapon or some sort of machinery by the karma or destiny. The sacrifice of knowledge is greater than the sacrifice of material possessions. So, dear Arjuna, after all, the sacrifice of work culminates in transcendental knowledge. Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized soul can impart knowledge unto you because he has seen the truth.

And when you have thus learned the truth, you will know that all living beings are but part of me--and that they are in me, and are mine. Even if you are considered to be the most sinful of all sinners, when you are situated in the boat of transcendental knowledge, you will be able to cross over the ocean of miseries. As the blazing fire turns firewood to ashes, O Arjuna, so does the fire of knowledge burn to ashes all reactions to material activities.

In this world, there is nothing as sublime and pure as transcendental knowledge. Such knowledge is the mature fruit of all mysticism. And one who has achieved this enjoys the self with himself in due course of time. A faithful man who is absorbed in transcendental knowledge and who subdues his senses quickly attains the supreme spiritual peace.

But ignorant and faithless persons who doubt the revealed scriptures do not attain God consciousness. For the doubting soul there is happiness neither in this world nor in the next. Therefore, one who has renounced the fruits of his action, whose doubts are destroyed by transcendental knowledge, and who is situated firmly in the self, is not bound by works, O conqueror of riches. Therefore the doubts which have arisen in your heart out of ignorance should be slashed by the weapon of knowledge. Armed with yoga, stand and fight. There is no use in simply going through the writings of great scholars. But one should try to adopt at least a few points of the teachings of great scholars. By adopting these methods, we can live in a wonderful world. That wonderful world will be free from all kinds of egos, jealous and other unwanted fights. VAASTHU FAQ

 Q.1. Square plots bring health and wealth to the inhabitants.

Ans.  Square shaped plots are considered the sign of stability and economy. These plots are considered highly auspicious by all the classical proponents of Vaastu as well as modern Vaastu experts. There is more area and fewer perimeters in case of square plots as compared to rectangular plots which has slightly more perimeter and less area. Square and rectangular shaped plots and buildings require lesser amount of masonry on its periphery. Thus, we see that the perimeter of a given area in a rectangular shaped building is nearly equal to the square but it increases rapidly when its length is more than twice of width. Hence, a square or rectangular building whose length is nearly one and a half times of the width is ideal. Moreover, more space can be utilized in a square shaped plot as compared to other shaped plots. Our body also fits in square/rectangular shape easily. All the above brings health and wealth to the inhabitants in square shaped plot.

Q.2. Any excavation in the middle of the plot brings disintegration of family.

Ans.  The middle part of a plot is known as Brahma Sthan. It should always be left blank as per Ideal Vaastu. It has ±0% load. Therefore, no excavation should be done here. If we do excavation in the middle of plot, there exists communication gap in the family members and there is no easily accessibility to general things. No meeting point exists here if excavation is done .The best example can be given from the epics of Mahabharat where Kaurvas had excavated in the middle part in the form of a lake due to which all the Kaurvas were totally ruined. Moreover, there should not be any height/beam in this area which also gives the same effects in the family as of excavation. Therefore, we can say that any excavation in the middle of plot brings disintegration in the family.

Q.3. Main Road ending (Veethi Shoola) on the entrance brings sudden misfortune.

Ans.  Main roads that thrust into a site or a road which terminates as dead end to a plot causes Shoola or fast approaching arrow like effects. This is also called Veethi Shoola. Veethi means a small road or passage. These are naturally or man-made and every dust ends there which brings sudden misfortune for the inhabitants of the plot. The results of Veethi Shoola are different depending upon the direction of approaching road. To some extent it gives auspicious results for the plot, if road is approaching in the North or East of Northeast, West of Northwest and/or South of Southeast. It leads to difficulties and hardship of all kinds. The house owner will always feel insecure. Vehicles approaching from the opposite direction cause imbalance of energies for the people living in the plot which brings sudden misfortune.

Q.4. Lesser height of rooms may cause Preta Badha.

Ans. Preta Badha means shrinking of a man and the atma of a man does not expand. If the rooms are of lesser height, may be less than 10 feet, the volume of the rooms will be less and there will be less quantity of air in the rooms as it could be as in a greater height room. Moreover, it has less space element. All the Panchmahabhootas i.e. fire, earth, air, water, space will have dearth in these rooms. There will be no necessary elements for survival. The man living in these rooms becomes narrow minded. He does not rise in his life due to his less mental growth. The other family members also suffer due to this, which may get health problems in them. The rooms should always be of greater height so as to acquire all the five great elements of  Panchmahabhootas which are very necessary for survival. Thus, it is said that lesser height of rooms causes Preta Badha for the people living in these rooms.

Q.5. North or East of Ishaan is best for an underground water tank/well/bowli.

Ans. Water is one of the five great elements of Panchmahabhootas and is inevitable for a human life. A site selection for the residence is done keeping in view the availability of water. It can be ensured in the form of a well, boring, hand pump, underground water storage tank. In Vaastu, Northeast sector is best for underground water tank/well/bowli as water governs the Northeast sector. It is a cool place and cold water can be obtained from here. It is also a Sattvik zone. Its lord is Jup and Dikpal is Lord Shiv. Positive rays are obtained from this direction only which purify naturally the underground water. When we dug earth from here, it gets less weight and the Northeast corner becomes of less load as per Ideal Vaastu which is best. Ishaan or Northeast corner is also of  Dev sthan and it should be given greater importance. A well in the east of Northeast gives good finances and education. Water source placed here leads to increased wealth, prosperity, knowledge and family. The Borewell/Bowli should not be in exact of North or East. It should not be constructed in the shadow area of Northeast. The well or water should be towards the right or left of these two axis. The well should be in the North or East of Northeast and not towards Northeast of Southeast. A boring/well in the East leads to prosperity, in the North it leads to increase in wealth, in the West it invites difficulties and hardships and in the South, it leads to untimely death, deformities, frequent accidents, attempted suicides and bad ways. A well in the Brahmasthan is never recommended. Therefore, we can say that North or East of Ishaan is best for underground water tank/well/bowli.

Q.6. Staircase should turn clockwise while going upwards with odd number of steps.

Ans. One of the strongest recommendations in Vaastu Shastra about Staircase is that it should always be clockwise or right-handed. Because human wants to apply shortest route and covers less distance in right hand direction. The rule of right hand or clockwise movement is based on strong scientific grounds. Today, nearly 90% of the world´s population is right handed. The left hand is passive and subjective, showing early-inherited traits and attitudes. The right hand is active and objective, showing years of maturity, developed self and present & future health. The right hand movement of a Staircase helps to take advantage of the dominance of right hand rule in a lucid manner. If the staircase is clockwise with right railing and open well in the right hand side, the better grip of right hand will facilitate the safe and quick ascending. Moreover, centre of gravity is in the upward direction, while ascending. If a person starts from right, it should end at right which is Shubh. Therefore, odd numbers of steps are taken.

Q.7. Servants, Pets and Vehicles should be in the Northwest, separate from the main building.

Ans. The planet Moon rules over the Northwest sector. Its directional lord is Vaayu, the God of Winds. Being the meeting point of cold and hot zones, this sector becomes the ideal place for wind´s entry. Servants, pets and vehicles are not a part of the house, they should be kept in the background. In this sector they are active. Northwest is the limit of extension of Master´s feet sleeping in the Southwest. The servant, staying in the Northwest remains youthful and vigilant to obey his master´s orders. The air has swift movement which will keep the livestock kept in the Northwest, active. Animals used for transportation such as horse or camel are kept here in Northwest, wind energy of Northwest will make them to run faster. Garage or vehicles are also best in this direction because of their quick movements, to and from the house for person´s personal use.

Q.8. Place  for Weeping should be in the West of North-West.

Ans: The planet Moon rules North-West sector and Sat rules over West sector. In between these sectors,place for weeping (Rodan Sthan) is taken because it is the dark place and active disha exists here. The cold nature of both of Moon and night make the air soothing for our body and weeping gets activated here in a fresh way. After weeping, the person is relieved of his tensions and feels light like air. The mysterious cold nature of planet Sat (an airy planet) and cold nature of planet Moon,with least light, helps the person to become calm, cool and quiet in that area after weeping. Because of all the above factors West of North-West is taken as the place for weeping.

Q.9. What is the role of directions in the Industrial Vaastu.

Ans: In Vaastu Shastra, different directions are rich in different energies. Certain of business thrive better in certain directions ,certain locations and certain buildings. Their  correct choice is first step on the path to success in any business. Therefore we must design our business space to harness these energies  accordingly. The role of different directions in Industrial Vaastu are:

1.North: Its planetary lord is Mercury and Dikpal is Kuber and it has  satvik and rajas(of air) energies. The business activities in this direction are: Banking,Money-landing, speech therapy clinic, educational institutions etc.

2.North-East: Its planetry lord is Jupiter and Dikpal is Shiv. It has satvik energy. The business activities  to be performed in this direction are: Rligious institutions, preaching, courts of flow of law,arbitration,chambers,meditation & yoga centres,places of worship etc.

3.East: Its planetary lord is Sun & Dikpal is Indra. It has satvik and rajas (of fire) energies. The business activities are: Political party, office ,multinational organizations, business tycoons,film makers,swimming pools,public baths etc.

4.South-East: Its planatry lord is Ven and Dikpal is Agni. It has rajasik energy.The business activities are: antique shops,food processing,industries,coffee shops, women organizations,industrial working in the field of light and energy etc.

5.South: Its planetry lord is Mars and Dikpal is Yama. It has tamas and rajas(of fire) energies.The business activities are: Industies using heat, fire  and metals on a large scale,violent games such as foot ball,archery and karate, free style boxing etc.

6.South-West: Its planetry lord is Rahu and Dikpal is Nainiriti.  It has tamsic energy.The business activities to do in this direction are: leather industries, wood work, ivory work, industries manufacturing poisonous drugs and chemicals, mortuary,places of rest such as night shelters etc.

7.West: Its planetry lord is Sat and Dikpal is Varuna. It has tamas and rajas (of air) energies.The business activities are: laboratries,research  institutes, detective agencies, petroleum and mining industries, eating plazas,antique shops etc.

8.North-West: Its planetry lord is Moon and Dikpal is Vayu .It has rajas energy.The business activities to be performed in this direction are : audio and music, parlours, beauty culture saloons, pet animals ,dairies, car showrooms ,vehicle service centres, air conditioning etc.

Moreover, all the great five-elements i.e., Panchmahabhootas should  be kept in mind  while choosing any direction to do any business activity.

 Q.10. Which probable steps will you undertake for the revival of a sick industrial unit.

Ans. Vaastu Shastra as a tool to enhance the business success of a sick industrial unit can be used in several ways. Auspicious directions can be used  for arranging office positions to improve the posperity of the sick unit.There are  methods aimed at increasing turnover at retail establishments such as general stores,boutiques,restaurant and franchise outlets.Employee’s productivity can be improved by introducing Vaastu Shastra principles in the sick industrial unit. All the openings should be open so  that all the great five-elements i.e.,Panchmahabhootas comes in to force and the cross ventilation should be proper.

Wise application of Vaastu principles can assist the movement of stagnant energies in the unit. The prana of an industrial unit depends on the people working there and their mutual relationships. The environment of a unit can dramatically be improved if its occupants co-operate with one other in a positive way. Paint, plants and images also help in improving an unsatisfactory environment of the unit. All these things can make it a better place to work.

Office activities of the unit can be diverted in rajas and tamas. Decision making  and implementing policies are mainly rajas .While day to day administrative task and  putting  the  the ideas into practice  is largely a tamas activity. Large trucks can make pick ups and deliveries easily in the open location.
